Rian Johnson points out a mistake in the Netflix thumbnail for the acclaimed crime drama Breaking Bad, saying the image in the thumbnail didn't appear in the episode it depicts. Johnson directed three episodes for the series including the antepenultimate episode «Ozymandias,» widely considered to be the show's best episode. Johnson is also known for his films The Brothers Bloom, Looper, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Knives Out.
Breaking Bad follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a high school chemistry teacher who decides to start producing meth after contracting terminal lung cancer, building a mighty drug empire in the process. «Ozymandias» is the culmination of the show's events, with many climactic story beats taking place. «Ozymandias» received record-setting acclaim for Breaking Bad, netting the series three Emmy Awards and a rare perfect score on IMDB.

On Twitter, Johnson posted a picture of a thumbnail that Netflix uses for the show, a shot from «Ozymandias,» identifiable from the tape on Walt's hand from a fight with Skylar (Anna Gunn.) Johnson points out that the orange cones that appear in the picture were never in the episode, and were only placed there during filming for safety. He says how the thumbnail always drove him crazy since it's not canon, and says it'll drive everyone else who now sees it crazy too. See the tweet below:
