Though better known as an antagonist, new Resident Evil show footage teases a completely different Albert Wesker. The series marks the first live-action TV adaptation of Capcom's iconic survival horror video game franchise following the Milla Jovovich-led movies and last year's reboot Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which adapted the first two games of the franchise. Resident Evil is set to revolve around Jade Wesker at two points in her life, the first of which sees her moving to New Raccoon City with her dad Albert and half-twin Billie and learns of the former's dark secrets with the Umbrella Corporation, while the second is set 14 years later in which she is struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by T-virus-infected humans.
Ella Balinska is leading the cast of Resident Evil as the older Jade alongside Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, Tamara Smart as a young Jade, Adeline Rudolph as an older Billie, Siena Agudong as a young Billie, Paola Núñez, Mpho Osei Tutu and Turlough Convery. Development on the Resident Evil show was first announced in early 2019 when Netflix acquired the rights to the project, with Supernatural vet Andrew Dabb being brought on as showrunner the following year. As Resident Evil gears up for its release, Netflix is offering a new look at the series that teases a major twist to an iconic character.
