Just because there is no E3 this year doesn’t mean there aren’t many big gaming announcements to get excited about. The Summer Game Fest goes live tomorrow, with over 30 companies participating in events this month. This includes Resident Evil 4 developer Capcom, who’ll conclude the festivities with its showcase on the 13th.
The Capcom showcase will focus on updates to already announced games. This includes the remake of Resident Evil 4, which the developer just confirmed it will feature during the live-streamed showcase on Monday.
Capcom Refers to Upcoming Resident Evil 4 As ‘Reawakened’ Rather Than a ‘Remake’
This confirmation comes courtesy of the official Resident Evil 4 Twitter account. The tweet and accompanying teaser trailer didn’t offer much new information beyond the announcement itself. However, it seems like fans may be getting a relatively in-depth breakdown of the upcoming remake. Unfortunately, it’s unclear how much gameplay Capcom will be ready to show off during the event. Hopefully, the developers will have something substantial for Resident Evil 4 fans to check out.
Resident Evil 4 is notable for having a somewhat distant connection to the preceding games. It follows returning Resident Evil character Leon Kennedy on his mission to rescue the President’s daughter Ashley from an isolated village in rural Spain. He arrives to find the villagers infected by a grotesque parasite and ruled over by a dangerous cult called Los Iluminados. The plot of Resident Evil 4 only ties back to the series’ storyline in its final act, and the gameplay puts a heavier focus on action combat than survival horror.
