The Resident Evil 4 remake may be getting additional content in the near future, judging from some behind-the-scenes changes that are being made on Steam.
As shown on Steam Database, two private branches - re_mas_00 and re_mas_02 - have been updated in the past couple of days, as CAPCOM is likely adding files to the game and testing them before public release. With the Tokyo Games Show right around the corner, it wouldn't be unlikely for paid or free DLC to be announced during the event.
Unlike Resident Evil Village, whose DLC only began development sometime after the game was released on PC and consoles, additional content for the Resident Evil 4 remake was already being worked on before the game launched. As such, the Separate Ways DLC will launch before the end of the year, according to a reliable insider. Mercenaries Mode will also get updated close to the launch of the DLC expansion to add four more characters - Leon Mafia, Ada, Ada Original RE4 Dress, and Wesker - and a new Extreme mode.

Resident Evil 4 was the ultimate test of Capcom’s remake skills, and unfortunately, they buckled a bit under the pressure. The game suffers from minor mechanical issues and doesn’t reinvent or elevate the original material as boldly as some might have hoped it would.
