Since Resident Evil 2 Remake came out, the bar for not only official remakes but also new entries in the long-running horror series has been quite high. As a result, when the reimagining of Resident Evil 3 released a year later, many people felt that it didn't surpass its predecessor. However, it was still one of the best horror games of 2020, up there with Phasmophobia and Visage, and recently, a video has emerged which shows a side by side comparison between the PS4 version of RE3 and the new upgraded PS5 port.
YouTuber Cycu1 has given the fan base a visual representation of how the previous generation build of Resident Evil 3 compares to current gen. It begins with the game's opening cut scene, with side-by-side playthroughs to demonstrate the differences. Towards the end of the video, there are also some stills that switch between PS4 and PS5, in order to give a more in-depth idea of the graphical upgrades that the new version has been given.
Some fans Are Not Happy About the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 Updates
To many, the differences may appear negligible, but there are those more «graphical purists» out there who will be interested to see the new ray tracing effects and whether or not they improve the overall visuals. Though some may not see the difference straight away, ray tracing has become a key component in modern game development. Studios are always working on new ways to make games more visually appealing, and this is just one of those methods, with resolution upscaling being another way to improve the general graphics of a game.
