Indie developer Glowstick Entertainment has seemingly been on the receiving end of legal action from Monster Energy.
In a thread on Twitter – as spotted by The Gamer – the studio's CEO Vincent Livings claimed that the energy drink giant has been claiming that the company's title, Dark Deception: Monsters and Mortals is "confusingly similar" to its own brand. Furthermore, Monster is demanding that Glowstick only use 'monster' alongside the rest of the game's name and that shall never emphasise the word more in any way.
Oh, and Livings says that Monster is asking that the studio agree to never have the word 'monster' in a green and white logo on a black background.
Glowstick's legal representation has replied to Monster with a list of terms the company is prepared to agree to, something that the energy drink company apparently rejected.
Monster has a history of being rather litigious surrounding its brand name. Back in 2020, Ubisoft was forced to change Gods & Monsters to Immortals Fenyx Rising after the energy drink company got in touch.
