Report: EA to land $587m deal with Premier League clubs
pcgamesinsider.bizUS publishing giant Electronic Arts is close to closing an agreement with the UK's Premier League worth £488 million ($587 million).
That's according to Sky News, which reports that the 20 clubs that make up the league have been briefed that a new six-year partnership will be completed in the near future.
This is apparently roughly double what EA had previously paid to use the Premier League clubs in its FIFA titles. If this is closed, the partnership would mean that the games giant remains the league's lead partner.
This comes in the wake of news that EA and football body FIFA were terminating a partnership that goes back 30 years. This is reportedly due to the latter deciding it wanted to charge double what it previously had for its license.
As a result, Electronic Arts is rebranding its football franchise EA Sports FC.
