Krafton and Striking Distance Studios have announced a brand new game set within the universe of The Callisto Protocol, and it's quite a departure from the survival horror title. It's called Redacted, and it's an isometric, roguelike dungeon crawler set within Black Iron Prison. Check out the announcement trailer above.
Redacted has you playing as a nameless security guard who's trying to make it to the penitentiary's last escape pod as its inmates are infected and everything starts to fall apart. It swaps the oppressive atmosphere of The Callisto Protocol for a colourful, action-focused style, complete with punk rock soundtrack and splashy visual effects.
As a roguelike, the game features various random elements, with each run offering different challenges as well as weapons, upgrades, suits, and more to experiment with. There are some fun wrinkles to the formula, though.
When you die, your corpse will become an enemy in your next run, and will have all the equipment you had before you kicked the bucket, meaning the further you got, the tougher this encounter will be. Additionally, you're not the only one gunning for the escape pod; rival characters will try to sabotage you on the way, aiming to get there first.
It honestly looks and sounds pretty cool, and it's quite refreshing to see a developer explore its own world in a totally new way. Redacted is coming to PS5 on 31st October, 2024. Are you interested in this one? Let us know in the comments section below.
