Warning! SPOILERS for Ms. Marvel episode 4.
While the MCU introduced Pakistan's resident vigilante Red Dagger in Ms. Marvel, his new origins are actually a joke from the comics. Operating out of the city of Karachi, Kamala Khan encounters the Red Dagger and the secret order of warriors he belongs to during her search for answers about her secret family history. However, the Red Dagger of the comics has a pretty different background than he does on-screen, one where the idea of him being trained to take on a mantle of ancient protectors is laughable.
In Ms. Marvel episode 4, Kamala and her mother travel to Pakistan at the request of Sana, Kamala's grandmother who's been having the same visions as Kamala coming from the bangle that once belonged to Aisha (Kamala's great-grandmother). Believing that the bangle and the powers it's given Kamala are trying to tell her something, Sana encourages her granddaughter to listen and seek out the answers in the city. This leads to Kamala coming face to face with the Red Dagger aka Kareem. Descended from a long line of warriors who protect the world from threats unseen, Kareem and his mentor Waleeed offer new insights about the Noor dimension where Kamala's powers are from, as well as the Djinn who are hunting her for it.
