Razer is pumping up the jams with a trio of new headsets, including a refresh of one of our favorite gaming headsets.
The Barracuda X is a versatile gaming headset with wireless and wired performance that could work on PC, consoles, and just about any device supporting analog audio. Razer is now upgrading(Opens in a new window) it and rounding out the lineup with the Barracuda and Barracuda Pro. The Barracuda X remains at the bottom of the pricing tier at just $99 while the Barracuda jumps up to $159 and the Pro model hits at $249. All three models are available today.
The main upgrade to the Barracuda X is its 50 hours of battery life, double that of the original. It also gets Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity as part of Razer’s new SmartSwitch Dual Wireless system
SmartSwitch Dual Wireless features on all three new headsets and allows them to connect to both a Bluetooth device and their 2.4GHz HyperSpeed wireless dongle at the same time, and switch between audio sources with the press of a button. Similar functionality has shown up on other headsets, such as in several from SteelSeries’ Arctis lineup.

Both models jump from 40mm drivers to 50mm, with the Barracuda using titanium and the Pro using “Bio-Cellulose” in their driver designs. Both also feature THX Spatial Audio— something that would cost extra for the Barracuda X. The final upgrade that sets the Razer Barracuda Pro apart from the restis Hybrid Active Noise Canceling.
The higher-end headsets also dump the detachable boom mic of the Barracuda X in favor of beamforming mics, likely in an attempt to have them better fit
