A fan recreation of Ratchet & Clank in Unreal Engine is so impressive that it even got the approval of one of the game’s developers. The Ratchet & Clank series is one of the longest-running PlayStation exclusives, with its first entry releasing back in 2002 for the PlayStation 2. While developer Insomniac Games and PlayStation decided to put the series on hiatus back in 2013 after the release of Into the Nexus,it was then revived with the release of the first game’s remake in 2016, which became Insomniac’s most successful Ratchet & Clank game so far.
Even the most recent entry in the series, last year’s Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, was not able to match the success of its predecessor when it launched. However, that may simply be due to the fact that Rift Apart is a PlayStation 5 exclusive and Sony’s latest console is still facing supply shortages even more than a year after its release. While its sales may not have surpassed 2016’s Ratchet & Clank, Rift Apart was still the best-selling game in the U.S. during the month it was released. The game was also received positively by both critics and fans, partly because of the quality of its story and animations. Rift Apart was also one of the winning games at the 2022 BAFTA Games Awards.
