Raised by Wolves on HBO Max has barrelled through a season's worth of content in just four episodes, and now the show seeks to completely turn the tables on what audiences know by introducing two new mysteries. Raised by Wolves is one of the most intriguing new shows on television, equal parts Blade Runner and Alien, and it follows a repurposed weaponized android named Mother and her companion Father as the two attempt to raise a colony of human children to be atheists after a religious civil war destroyed the Earth.
The first season ended with an incredible number of plot development, including the discovery of Marcus' true identity and his exile by the Mithraic, along with the arrival of a colony of atheists who also escaped the destruction of Earth. Arguably the most important development, however, was Mother being impregnated and then forced to deliver a bio-organic snake creature. Season 2 sees Marcus slowly building his own church of Mthraic followers, while Mother and her children are inducted into the colony of atheists. A lesser show would have been content following and developing these huge character arcs and narrative strands, but Raised by Wolves has always been focused on recontextualizing the audience's understanding of what's happening on Kepler-22b.
