The Parent Trap star Lindsay Lohan has taken to TikTok to channel Annie James/Parker, recreating an iconic diss from the film. As a remake of the 1961 film of the same name, Nancy Meyers’1998 family comedyThe Parent Trap launched Lohan’s career as one of the biggest child actresses of her generation. In the film, Lohan played twin sisters Hallie Parker and Annie James, who were separated at birth following their parents’ divorce. After running into each other at summer camp — not knowing the other existed — the pair devise a plan to switch places and reunite their mom and dad. In addition to Lohan, the film stars Dennis Quaid, Elaine Hendrix, Lisa Ann Walter, Simon Kunz, and the late Natasha Richardson.
Where most modern remakes fail, The Parent Trap managed to capitalize on a winning formula, thanks in large part to Lohan’s standout performance(s). Over two decades later, it remains more of the most memorable family films of the 90s. Last year, Lohan, Quaid, Hendrix, Walter, and director Meyers participated in a virtual reunion to celebrate The Parent Trap's 22nd anniversary, proving that the filmstill holds a very special place in pop culture zeitgeist and the hearts of fans.
