Quake fans have long been hoping for a revival of the franchise in similar fashion to fellow legendary id shooters like DOOM and Wolfenstein have enjoyed in recent years, and though one hasn’t been forthcoming, classic shooter series has still had some time in the sun in the recent past. In 2021, at QuakeCon, id Software and Bethesda announced and released a remastered and expanded version of the original Quake, and if you’ve been desperate for more of that, there might be good news for you on the horizon.
As spotted by Gematsu, a certification rating for Quake 2 Remastered has been spotted on the website of the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea. Though a remastered of the shooter hasn’t been officially announced, a rating would seem to indicate that a reveal could be around the corner, especially given the fact that QuakeCon 2023 is set for August.
It’s worth remembering that 2021’s Quake remaster also got leaked via certification ratings prior to its official announcement. Whether a Quake 2 remaster, if it does get announced, also feature additional new content developed by MachineGames like the 2021 release did remains to be seen.
