Ubisoft's new Avatar video game was up against some stiff competition last month.

December is usually a more relaxed month on the gaming calendar, and last year, the merriest month of the year was a great time to catch up on the high-profile releases of October and November. The biggest blockbuster release of the month was easily Ubisoft's Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and on PS5 consoles, the interactive return to James Cameron's alien world managed to make a modest splash on the PlayStation charts.
Sony has revealed the most-downloaded games of December 2023, with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora taking the eighth-place position in the US and Canada. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the top dog of the month, followed by several big sports games from EA and 2K Games. In Europe, the Avatar game fared much better and debuted in fourth place.
