In its fiscal report for Q3 (October-December) of FY 2023/24 (which ends March 31, 2024), Sony has revealed that the PS5 has shipped 54.8 million units worldwide as of December 31. Previously, the company announced the console had sold 50 million units worldwide as of December 9.
Over the course of the quarter, Sony shipped 8.2 million units worldwide, which is up 1.1 million over what it managed in Q3 of the previous fiscal year. Its total shipments for the current fiscal year now stand at 16.4 million units. Sony has projected a record-breaking 25 million shipments for the entirety of the fiscal year, which means the console will have to sell an additional 8.6 million units between January and March.
PS5 also saw 89.7 million units of software sold during the quarter, which is up year-on-year by 3.2 million. Meanwhile, the period also saw PlayStation Network hitting a record-high peak of 123 million active users, with PlayStation Plus’ total subscriber count standing at 47.4 million.
