After having had its sales throttled by global stock shortages for about two years, the PS5 has seen significant boosts in shipments and sales in recent years, with Sony having confirmed that the aforementioned shortages have started easing up. Unsurprisingly, that has been reflected in its figures in the UK as well.
In fact, as per data released by GSD (via GamesIndustry), the PS5 saw a 316% boost in sales in the UK for the month of February as compared to what it managed in February of 2022. Its sales for the month were also up 27% over what it managed in January (which was another month that saw a significant increase in sales for the console), while its current year-to-date sales in the region are 180% up over the first two months of last year.
Xbox Series X/S also saw sales increases in the UK, if not to the same extent. February sales for Microsoft’s duo of consoles were up 21% from the preceding month, and up 15% year-on-year from February last year- though its year-to-date sales are down by 5.3%.
Last month, Sony confirmed that as of December 31, the PS5 has shipped over 32.1 million units worldwide.
