Despite the new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion fuelling fresh sales of Elden Ring, it was Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V that's been named the best-selling game of June 2024 on the PS Store across both the USA and Europe. The 11-year-old game continues to top sales charts worldwide, with anticipation growing for its sequel's launch next year. Both titles were locked in the same place within both territories: GTA 5 was the best-selling game for June 2024 on Sony's digital storefront and Elden Ring was just behind it in second.
What's important to clarify here is that since Shadow of the Erdtree is DLC for the base game, its individual sales from players who already own it haven't counted towards its sales position. This is based purely on purchases of the original title or — presumably it's included too — the digital Shadow of the Erdtree bundle that comes with the base experience along with the expansion.
Elsewhere, Sea of Thieves and NBA 2K24 swap places in between Europe and the USA — NBA 2K24 is third in the USA and Sea of Thieves is fourth, while Sea of Thieves is third in Europe and NBA is fourth. New indie game V Rising was the seventh best-selling digital game across both regions, and the rest of the top 10 features It Takes Two, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Helldivers 2.
In fact, after the sales slip began last month, Helldivers 2 has dropped off further. In June 2024, it was the USA's 10th best-selling digital game, and in Europe, it's all the way down in 17th.
V Rising
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
Helldivers 2 still hanging in there, I expect a sales boost when they release the next factions update.
I feel GTAVI will be the shot in the arm that consoles need
Surely every man and his dog has at least 2 copies of GTAV by now????
