Being able to eat and drink in will keep hydration, energy, and sanity up, which are all things needed to survive the apocalypse.

Dirty water and some food can be found in the wild, but if you want access to better food and beverages, certain items must be unlocked and crafted. One of these items is the Brewing Barrel, which unlocks at Tier 4 in the Memetics tree, underneath Logistics.

In Once Human, location is everything when it comes to building a home base. Players can move territory and change base location using the build menu.

The Brewing Barrel costs 2000 Energy Links and 7 Ciphers and requires the Integrated Kitchen Memetic to unlock. Then it just takes a few items to craft:50 logs, 20 adhesives, 20 aluminum ingots, 20 rubber, and 15 acid. Once unlocked and crafted, the Brewing Barrel can be used to make several goodies in, which you can see in the table below.

The Brewing Barrel requires a power source like a Solar Generator to run. It’s just a matter of connecting the generator’s wires to the barrel in build mode. Then start adding raw ingredients to create different recipes, like ale and cheese, which will help you on your quest to survive in this new yet controversial world.

The Brewing Barrel is used to make four recipes in: Malt Ale, Corn Ale, Cheese, and Pickles. These recipes help replenish vital life forces such as hydration and energy, similar to how food replenishes hunger in. All of these recipes require purified water, so you’ll also need access to the Water Collector, Water Storage Tank, and the Osmosis Water Purifier. Also, the Brewing Barrel has a ratio of 2:1, so be mindful of that measurement when adding ingredients.
