The new PlayStation Plus tiers are now available worldwide and users can choose from three options – Essential, Extra, and Premium. Sony converted all existing subscriptions to the Essential tier and PS Plus members can upgrade to the higher tiers by paying the price difference between the two.
While Essential remains the same as the previous PS Plus model, Extra and Premium give users access to a catalog of hundreds of PS5 and PS4 games. Subscribers can play marquee PlayStation exclusives and AAA third-party games at no extra cost, although it doesn’t offer new first-party titles on day one like Xbox Game Pass. PS Plus Premium comes with a host of other benefits, including the ability to try games for a few hours. The selection of game trials was fairly limited on launch, but Sony added a new title to this collection.

PlayStation Plus Premium members can play MX vs ATV Legends for free by downloading the time-limited game trial from the store. Users can play MX vs ATV Legends for up to two hours and perhaps make a better purchasing decision based on their hands-on experience. Only in-game time is counted, so the timer starts when users launch the game, and it pauses when they close the application. Interested fans should note that their save data and trophy progress will carry over should they decide to buy MX vs ATV Legends.
Game trials are arguably one of the most unique benefits of PS Plus Premium. An earlier report suggested that all games priced at or above $34 would be required to have a trial within three months of their release.
