The expansion of Sony's PS Plus service to include the new Extra and Premium tiers have seemingly gone over well. In short, PS Plus Essential is PS Plus as it was before, PS Plus Extra grants access to a library of PS4 and PS5 games, and Premium expands that library with PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 games, among other benefits.
Indeed, while PS Plus Essential is business as usual, Extra and Premium have set a high bar for the services. The PS Plus Extra and Premium releases for July 2022 included a total of 18 games, including the day one viral hit Stray. Of course, just like its competition Xbox Game Pass, it stands to reason that games will eventually leave the service. It hasn't lost too many yet because it's so early in its lift cycle, and it is likely that additions will always outpace removals. Still, fans should be aware that PS Plus Extra is losing one game in August 2022.
Some PS Plus Subscribers Get an Extra Game in August 2022
Per the PlayStation Store, Killzone Shadow Fall will be removed from PS Plus Extra on August 11 at 9am CT. Fans will have until this time to claim the game, but they should be aware this isn't a timed removal or anything like that. Instead, Killzone Shadow Fall is being removed on August 11 because its online services are being shut down on August 12.
Effective August 12, all online features, services, and game modes for Killzone Shadow Fall, including its popular intercept mode, will no longer be accessible. Those who own Killzone Shadow Fall will still be able to play the game in offline single-player modes, but of course, such a decision drastically reduces the viability of the game, even on a service like PS Plus Extra.
