Prey director Dan Trachtenberg explains how he was influenced by Mad Max: Fury Road when making his new Predator movie. Since the release of the first film in 1987, the Predator franchise has blossomed to include a handful of sequels and even a few Alien crossover films. The most recent installment, Prey, is set to take the franchise to places it's never gone before, telling the story of a female Comanche warrior who fights to protect her tribe from the first alien Predator to ever land on Earth.
Early reactions to the film have been mostly positive, with many critics praising the film for its inventive action, unique setting, and exploration of Comanche culture. As shown in the film's trailers, Prey differs from other Predator films in a number of ways, with one big difference being the amount of dialogue. Naru actor Amber Midthunder previously revealed that her audition for Prey did feature spoken lines, but also that a big emphasis was placed on her ability to embody the character through her movement and the way she traversed certain spaces.
