World of Warcraft Classic will be getting Hardcore on August 24th. Blizzard is getting everyone ready for what to expect, what to do beforehand, and what changes particular to the Hardcore mode you’ll find.
A new guide goes through some of the changes for Hardcore. Since it is, by design, a challenge, most dungeons will be on a 24-hour lockout. This is to make sure that players will spend time in the open world and take some risks. You probably wouldn’t be in Hardcore if you were allergic to risk taking, though. Items that were added to the early dungeons later in the original release will be available in their final state from the get-go.
When it comes to dungeons, some will have changes just for Classic Hardcore. This means adjustments in some creature behavior to make it harder to just grind by snaring and endlessly kiting enemies in them. There will also be a major reduction to group XP earned when players of significantly higher levels play in the same group with those of significantly lower levels. It's Hardcore, so don't expect your friends at high levels to carry you, or at least not without a penalty.
Dungeon loot drops will follow the current, latest iteration of the World of Warcraft Classic realms. The new guide has a list of the loot drops that you can expect from a different source you might remember. Dungeon Set quests will be available as long as you meet the requirements. The gates of the Ahn’Qiraj will be open from the start of Hardcore too, if you need some temptation to test your limits. As for testing your limits, all raid instances will be open and match current Classic realms. Attunement process won’t change.
