GPU vendor EVGA is preparing a gaming desktop that dumps the traditional case in favor of a cable suspension system that hangs the motherboard in the center of the PC.
The E1 is designed to push PC building to a new “extreme.” In a video, EVGA demonstrated the various parts of the prebuilt PC, including the “case,” or what’s actually a carbon fiber frame that holds the system together.
As you can see, the frame is pretty bare-bones. "At 2.76 pounds, the E1 sports the lightest frame design compared to other chassis of the same volume," EVGA points out.
The hardware also contains no removable panels at all. However, it does feature a suspension system involving several steel cables, which can hold a central mount in the middle of the PC.
The mount is the foundation on which to build the rest of the PC, allowing a large power supply, motherboard, and cooling fans to be bolted on. The resulting system is a beast that features a 1,600-watt power supply and what appears to be a rumored RTX 3090 Ti Kingpin graphics card.
In addition, the PC comes with analog gauges to indicate the internal temperatures for the CPU and GPU. At the bottom of the gauge is also a collection of USB and audio ports.
There’s no word on how much the prebuilt PC will cost, but it’ll almost certainly be pricey, given all the high-end parts used. EVGA plans on selling the E1 in extremely limited quantities. Interested customers can sign up to be notified for more details.
