Poppy Playtime is at risk of becoming too formulaic depending on the choices the developers make with Poppy Playtime Ch. 3. So far, Poppy Playtime's chapters are following a pattern, but if the developers continue that, it would take away from the suspense they've been building. When a player knows what to expect in a horror game, the game becomes bland and it can't fulfill its role of creating the proper atmosphere or tension needed.

Poppy Playtime puts players in the role of a former Playtime Co. employee who is searching for the truth about what happened to their coworkers who vanished a decade ago. The ending of Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 has the player in the Playcare area after Poppy switches the tracks the train takes, keeping the player from leaving the Playtime Co. factory. Though it isn't explicitly stated, it can be inferred that the Playcare area is where children who scored well enough on the games in the playground were taken for further experimentation. The implications of this area's purpose could lead to some horrifying lore being revealed in Poppy Playtime Ch. 3.

Poppy Playtime Ch. 3 needs to avoid the death of the primary toy monster in order to avoid the whole of Poppy Playtime becoming too formulaic. In bothPoppy Playtime Ch. 1 and Poppy Playtime Ch. 2, the main toy monster is killed by the end of the chapter. If Mommy Long Legs returns as part of «him,» a fate she expressed fear about in the moments before her death, it wouldn't be the same as her returning in a later chapter as herself.
