Trevenant is a melee Defender in Pokemon Unite, and let’s face it, this dual ghost/grass type creature is pretty terrifying. As well as being a great idea for a Halloween costume, it dominates enemy teams with a range of crowd-control abilities and incredible survivability. What’s not to love about that?

While Trevenant is a Defender, there are several paths you can choose depending on your team’s needs. We’re going to list two builds, one that focuses on disabling multiple enemies with Wood Hammer, and another that is designed to lock onto the enemy carry where possible. Trevenant can be a solid flex pick if your teammates instalock the more prestigious roles, while still being fun to play.
Trevenant is ideal when you’re up against teams that boast significant Sp. Attack. Its base Sp. Defense stat is among the highest in the game, and while its base Defense isn’t up there with the likes of Snorlax, Crustle, or Blastoise among Defenders, it will more than hold its own.
Also, if the enemy comp contains a hyper-carry that you feel could dominate your lineup, Trevenant offers a great balance. Paired with the right items, you can both nullify the carry and provide goal-scoring potential to your team.
You won’t be a full tank like Snorlax, especially as some moves consume health, so you shouldn’t be too reckless. Play smart, and you’ll be highly effective.
If you need a build that is more designed around preventing the enemy team’s movement and access to your goal, this one is perfect. It’s effective at dealing with single enemies, but far more so when you’re surrounded by enemies or when the opposing jungler comes to push the lane.
