It looks like Pokémon is returning to McDonald’s Happy Meals in the UK this summer, as hinted by a recent image leak. The popularity of the beloved monster-catching franchise has allowed Pokémon to invade multiple fast-food chains worldwide. From Japanese McDonald’s to Chinese KFCs on Chinese New Year, Pokémon always seems to be ready to order something to go.
Since the debut of Pokemon Red and Blue, it seems not a year has gone by without Pokémon being a part of one or more product collaborations. Brand deals like food and clothing were abundant for Pokémon during its initial success. Eventually, however, Pokémon grew to the point that it could lend its brand name to products like nail polish, cologne, and X-Ray machines. The most common promotions throughout Pokémon's history typically involved fast food and snacks, however, with many recognizable titans like Burger King, Nabisco, Wendy's, Baskin-Robbins, and McDonald’s featuring Pokémon at some point. Oddly enough, Pokémon still had some weird food marketing crossovers, despite no shortage of promotional deals in that product area.

An anonymous McDonald's source leaked an image indicating the return of Pokémon to UK chains. As featured in a report from Nintendo Life (via TheGamer), the image shows a promotional image of Pikachu teasing that Pokémon is “Coming soon to Happy Meal.” The anonymous source further disclosed to Nintendo Life that the promotion would be UK exclusive and will begin this summer on August 3, 2022. If this leak proves legitimate, it's likely these images will soon appear on Happy Meal boxes to promote the event.
