Genesect is a Mythical Bug and Steel Pokémon that players can encounter in Raids in Pokémon Go this August. Genesect is part of August's Five Star Raid Boss features along with Palkia, Zacian, and Zamazenta. Each of these Mythical and Legendary Pokémon will appear more frequently in Raids, and they will also each have their own Wednesday Raid Hour, which takes place from 6-7 pm local time. All of these events are part of Pokémon Go's Season of GO, a summer event calendar that continues until September 1.
As a Bug- and Steel-type Pokémon, Genesect is weak to Fire moves in Pokémon Go. Therefore, any strong Fire Pokémon, or Pokémon with Fire-based Fast or Charged moves, would be best when countering Genesect in a Five-Star Raid. However, Genesect is resistant to many Pokémon types because it's a Steel Pokémon; players should avoid using Normal, Bug, Steel, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, Fairy, Poison, or Grass Pokémon.
