Dying Light 2 datamine suggests first major DLC could be gladiator themed
A datamine of a recent Dying Light 2 patch has potentially revealed the setting and some plot elements from the game’s first major expansion.
As discovered by YouTube user ‘Bub’, a new location, unfinished dialogue and even animated storyboards depicting the expansion’s cinematics have all been discovered.
Among the files include several new NPCs, all of which share a gladiatorial theme, and key pieces of dialogue and storyboards also suggest that gladiator combat is going to be a large focus of the expansion.

Part of the DLC appears to take place in a large opera house. An untextured version of this location has been uncovered, including several floors and a basement prison.
The majority of the files appear unfinished, and most of the dialogue is placeholder, low-quality recordings in Polish.
Animations for the player are also present, which suggests new gestures could be coming as part of the expansion.
However, some other locations included in the expansion have been uncovered thanks to internal files. Astrid’s Office, Church and Metro Station are all listed as locations, although at the time of writing, visual elements from these areas haven’t been found.
The true scale of the DLC isn’t clear, but with 2000 pieces of dialogue uncovered for far, and two different endings also discovered, it’s likely to be significant.
Earlier in the year, Techland delayed the game’s first story DLC until “September”.
According to the game’s updated roadmap, however, the new expansion could arrive between September and November, suggesting the team is unclear when the DLC will be ready. No release date has been announced.
