With Pokémon Scarlet and Violet tho, some fans have debated whether Gen 9 should be Pokémon SV or ScarVio.
For several generations now, the Pokémon community has stuck to a pretty consistent naming method for mainline games. While some players have started to call Gen 9 ScarVio, the popular abbreviation should instead be "SV."
