A leaked email for an upcoming Switch console exclusive has sparked speculation that a Nintendo Direct is happening next Wednesday.
Even though one hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it’s a (relatively) safe bet that Nintendo will be holding one of its Nintendo Directs this summer. E3 2022 may not be a thing anymore but the rest of the industry is preparing major June reveals and announcements regardless.
The question is less if but when the next Nintendo Direct will drop, and the company’s love of secrecy, and previous track record, means we probably won’t know until two or three days beforehand.
That said, a recent rumour that’s making the rounds claims that it could happen next week, specifically on Wednesday, June 15.
This comes via a leaked email, not one related to Nintendo itself, but an upcoming game releasing for Nintendo Switch and PC, that was announced in a previous Nintendo Direct.
Said email requests that no coverage be shared before June 15 at 5pm BST, so it’s suspected that the game will be featured as part of a Nintendo Direct taking place on that day.
The email was shared via the GamingLeaksAndRumours Reddit thread and has been deemed legitimate by the moderators. Although they add that this doesn’t necessarily confirm a Direct for that date.
The source of the email, Reddit user SamKarr, claims that it lines up with information they’ve received from other developers, which they had to sign NDAs for.
They add that they didn’t have to sign an NDA for this one nor did the publisher ask them not to share this info, which is why they were willing to leak it online. They seem to have forgotten that being given an embargo date means they were asked not to share it, so that’s a bridge burnt.
