One fan of Nintendo and Game Freak’s Pokemon Scarlet and Violet had an unusual aquatic encounter with a Flareon, snapping a picture of the Fire-type Pokemon seemingly going for a swim in the midst of battle. Many players of the pair of open-world, creature-catching games have been ensuring their Pokemon are ready to fight ahead of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Tandemaus Tera Raid Battle event taking place on Valentine’s Day.
Making its first appearance all the way back with the franchise’s initial outings, 1996’s Pokemon Red and Blue, the Fire-type Pokemon Flareon is one of the many different Eevee evolutions available to players throughout the long-running series. Created by evolving an Eevee using a Fire Stone, Flareon is one of several classic Pokemon that return for trainers to capture or battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Given that Fire-type Pokemon are notoriously weak against Water, it’s not every day that players spot the hot-blooded Flareon going out for a swim.

In an amusing series of photos shared to the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, user TheCatGirl139 shows off her encounter with a floating Flareon in one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s many bodies of water. The screenshot shows TheCatGirl139 engaged in battle with a high-level Flareon who, in an unusual move for the Fire-type Pokemon, sits half-submerged, looking thoroughly unbothered by the damp surroundings. Citing the photos as proof that the fiery Pokemon can swim, the post drew attention from fans of the evolved form of Eevee.
