Pokemon Legends: Arceus features dozens of optional requests for the player to complete as they work on filling out their Pokedex and saving the enraged nobles around Hisui. Request 28, or «Measuring Your Compatibility,» is one of the earlier requests players can get. The request is given by an NPC named Belamy, who can be located by the pastures near the entrance of Jubilife Village.
Measuring Your Compatibility focuses on showing Belamy a Pokemon that the player has high friendship with. High friendship has been a staple of many prior Pokemon games; in fact, several Pokemon throughout prior games and in Pokemon Legends: Arceus will only evolve if they have high friendship with the player. However, it might not be clear to many players as to how to gain friendship with Pokemon, or how to know that the friendship level between the player and a specific Pokémon is very high. Here's how to gain friendship, check friendship, and complete Request 28.
Though it may seem difficult, increasing friendship with a specific Pokemon isn't too hard — in fact, it's pretty common sense. Gaining friendship happens naturally as the player travels and explores with their Pokemon. Fighting battles with them and winning without fainting will raise friendship quickly, but keeping them in the party while the player does their thing around Hisui will also raise friendship passively, albeit at a slightly slower pace. Having a chosen Pokemon collect resources like ores and plants will also raise friendship. Feeding them EXP Candies will help, too.
