and aren’t the Switch’s first Pokémon games, but the two titles are still getting their own special Nintendo Switch system. And to coincide with the limited console, The Pokémon Company released a new trailer for the two new games that reveal some new Pokémon, some of its story paths, and, of course, some more of Quaxly, the game’s duck-like Water-type starter.
As shown in the above trailer, players can enroll in a school in the Paldea region that holds an independent study project called “A Treasure Hunt,” something that emphasizes the game’s more open nature. One path is called Victory Road where players go to eight different Gyms, which should be familiar for those who have played other Pokémon games (although they can be tackled in any order this time around). It also shows the Gym Test, which are unique to each Gym, and this specific one has the player finding Sunflora in the area. The trailer caps off the Victory Road path with Bassius, the Grass-type Gym leader, who comes equipped with a Sudowoodo and Smoliv.
There’s also the Path of Legends that has the suave, but not battle savvy Arven joining the player to help them find rare herbs. Path of Legends seems more exploration based, but has a fight with a huge Klawf, which is one of the new crab-like Rock-type Pokémon. Klawfs are not normally that big, but this is a Titan variant meant to act as a boss battle that guards the coveted Herba Mystica.
The last path is called Starfall Street where players challenge Team Star, who are rogue kids causing mischief. Mela is the leader of the team’s Fire crew and can be seen in the trailer with her Torkoal and a big -esque hot rod called a Starmobile.
