Pokémon GO Teases Next Mega Update Will Include The GO Battle League
A new update potentially teases the future of Mega Evolutions in the Pokémon GO, suggesting Mega Evolved Pokémon may soon be joining the Battle League. The ever-evolving nature of the game means new mechanics are regularly added, removed, or altered, something which often causes frustrations for Pokémon GO players.
Mega Evolutions are some of the most powerful Pokémon available in Pokémon GO, and have become a popular staple in other Pokémon video games as well. Ever since the addition of Mega Evolved Pokémon in 2020, Pokémon GO developer Niantic has had to overhaul how players interact with Mega Evolutions, limiting them only to Raids. This includes the aptly named Mega Update, released in April 2022, which made it easier for players to win Pokémon GO Mega Raids with less intensive coordination and fewer people.

The official Pokémon GO Twitter account posted a short video that hints at a potentially big update for Mega Evolutions. Teased just weeks after Pokémon GO's recent Mega Evolution update, the video shows a Mega Kangaskhan facing off against a Blastoise in a PvP battle, meaning that Mega Evolved Pokémon may soon be joining the Battle League. As of now, Mega Evolutions are only able to be used in Raids, where they are some of the most powerful assets. No further details have been shared on Twitter or on the Pokémon GO website, so the full extent of this update is still unknown.
