Two worlds collide as Pokemon GO is finally making its way to the Pokemon Trading Card Game. A release date has finally been revealed for the collaborative expansion sets initiallly announced in February.
The Pokemon Trading Card Game was first published 1996 and essentially gives players the chance to battle each other outside of the video game with cards representing the Pokemon, items, and other trainer characters. Pokemon GO is an augmented reality mobile version of the Pokemon video games that was developed by Niantic and released in 2016.

On Twitter, the official account for the Pokemon Trading Card Game revealed a release date of July 1st, 2022 for the expansion based on Pokemon GO. The expansion will include a Team Collection, Premium Collection, and Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box Plus. A link to the Pokemon website posted with the tweet announces that further releases for this expansion will come at a later date, but the first wave will become on July 1st. It also says that booster packs for this expansion will only be available in Pokemon TCG: Pokemon GO Mini Tin, Pokemon TCG: Pokemon GO Collection, Pokemon TCG: Pokemon GO Special Collection, and more.
This expansion is sure to bring those fans of Pokemon GO to the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Expansions of the Pokemon Trading Card Game are always welcome, as are new players. Both games have been booming in popularity lately, especially with Pokemon GO introducing the Alolan Region recently, so this expansion could prove beneficial to both Pokemon properties.
The card game version of Pokemon does come with a bit of a learning curve, but as long as players know the Pokemon battle mechanics well
