Primeape is appearing in 3-star Raids in Pokémon GO, and this is an excellent opportunity for players at high levels to try and score a shiny. In contrast,lower-level players still have the opportunity to fight and capture the fully evolved Fighting-type. With a team of super-effective Pokémon, this Raid can be an easy solo for high-level players but might require two or more trainers at lower levels. Primeape is appearing as part of the new July Raids, included with a new Pokémon GO Battle Series. Primeape is boosted by cloudy weather, giving players a tougher challenge if they choose to fight it at that time. In addition, players can receive 1 Raid Pass every day by spinning the Pokéstop photo at a gym.
A pure fighting-type, Primeape is weak to Psychic-, Fairy-, and Flying-type moves, taking 2x damage from them. It resists damage at a rate of 1/2x from Bug-, Dark-, and Rock-types. Avoid bringing Dark-, Rock-, Steel-, Normal-, or Ice-types, as they will receive 2x damage from Primeape's attacks. Bringing a team full of super-effective Pokémon will ensure an easy victory. However, Primeape has access to Ice Punch, a move that will do 2x damage to Flying-types. Use caution when bringing those Pokémon.

The best possible counters for Primeape are high-CP legendary Pokémon or Mega Evolved Pokémon. High-level options include Rayquaza, Moltres in Pokémon GO, Ho-Oh, and Lugia. Psychic is one of the most plentiful types amongst legendaries, so bringing Mewtwo, Mew, Latios, Latias, or Hoopa would ensure a quick victory. However, raiders likely won't need to use these Pokémon to achieve an easy victory, so opt for more accessible Pokémon.
