Rockruff is returning to Pokémon GO Raids, appearing at a 1-star level. Due to its low difficulty, players can have better odds of finding a shiny when fighting many Rockruff Raids in succession. For any trainer, even those at lower levels, this Raid can be done alone. Rockruff is boosted during partly cloudy weather, giving players the option to fight it at a higher difficulty in exchange for better CP upon capture. Rockruff is appearing as part of new July Raids, with a new Pokémon GO Battle Series. Players can receive 1 Raid Pass every day by spinning the Pokéstop photo at a gym.
Rockruff, a pure Rock-type Pokémon, has many exploitable weaknesses. It will take 2x damage from Water, Grass, Fighting, Steel, and Ground-type attacks. It resists Fire, Flying, Normal, and Poison-type attacks, so players should avoid bringing Pokémon with those types of moves. Though, at a 1-star rating, even mid-level trainers will be able to bring nearly any fully evolved Pokémon to this Raid and still win.

The best possible counters to Rockruff are high-CP legendary or Mega Evolved Pokémon, such as Kyogre, Celebi, Virizion, Mega Blastoise, Mega Lopunny, or Groudon in Pokémon GO. Since Rockruff is not a difficult Raid, such force likely won't be necessary to defeat it. Opt for some more common fully evolved Pokémon. Any Water, Grass, Fighting, Steel, or Ground-type Pokémon, or a combination of these types, will suffice.
Rockruff is a basic Pokémon, and evolves into Lycanroc-Midday with 50 candies during the daytime, and Lycanroc-Midnight with 50 candies at night. Lycanroc-Dusk is currently unavailable in Pokémon GO.
