Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn has come to Las Vegas, and it's a hit. Well, too much of a hit. In a bizarre turn of events, the first in-person Pokemon Go event of the year has proven so popular, that Niantic told players not to turn up.
This comes after Niantic decided to host a Pokemon Go event in a public park, making it easy for those without tickets to attend and see what the tour has to offer. This reportedly resulted in poor connections across the event, although players seem to have little sympathy for the organisers.

"Trainers, we appreciate the enthusiasm you showed today at Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas," reads a tweet thread from the official Pokemon Go account. "An additional 17,000 Trainers without tickets joined us at the park, causing spotty connectivity throughout the day. This led to Trainers disconnecting from raids, being unable to log in, and other issues with gameplay."
The statement continues, targeting players who turned up without paying. "We ask that Trainers who do not have a ticket for Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas refrain from joining us at the park tomorrow, to ensure a smooth event for Sunday ticket holders and Trainers who have the Sunday Extra Day Add-On."
The replies are hardly on Niantic's side here, calling the organisers out for believing they can stop players from using a public park.
Many also feel that this statement is hypocritical, given Niantic's insistence that Pokemon Go players should return to playing outdoors after it put an end to Covid-19 features that let its fans play from home.
