The 'An Akala Adventure' is the new Special Research task in Pokémon Go that players can complete. While Pokémon Go doesn't have much of a plot, the history and lore of Pokémon are fed to the player from Professor Willow. Whenever a new major Pokémon is added to the game, Professor Willow will send the player out into the world to complete his research. This time around, the special research is focused on Tapu Lele. This legendary Pokémon made its debut in Pokémon X and Y as one of the guardian deities Pokémon. Since it's now available in Pokémon Go for capture, it also brought along a new season-exclusive special research.
The 'An Akala Adventure' Special Research began on March 22nd at 10 am local time and will remain in the game indefinitely. Unlike Timed Research tasks, Special Research tasks can be completed at any time. This is typical because Special Research Tasks are a bit more time-consuming to complete. It joins the game as part of Pokémon Go's Lush Jungle event, where Grass-type Pokémon have their spawn rate drastically increased. With Tapu Lele appearing in five-star raid battles, trainers should take advantage and capture one before it's removed from rotation.

This Special Research task is broken up into four different stages. Throughout, trainers will learn more about the history and background of Tapu Lele. Akala Island is the second location trainers visit while exploring the Alola region in Pokémon X and Y. It also happens to be the home of Tapu Lele. Each stage has three different missions to clear before players can claim their reward. These are all the active challenges and rewards for this event.
