Pokémon Legends: Arceus brought a ton of changes to the Pokémon franchise, and unlike previous games in the series, players have limited inventory space that can be upgraded as they progress on their adventure. There are lots of useful items and materials that trainers can gather or craft as they explore Hisui, and managing inventory space plays a key role in preparing players for their expeditions. Only 23 inventory slots are available when players first receive their Satchel, but upgrades can be purchased in Jubilife Village to unlock additional slots.
Fortunately, items do stack in the inventory, which means players can carry about 20 different types of items at the beginning of the game. There doesn’t seem to be any limit to how many items players can keep in a single stack, so players can carry dozens of Pokémon Legends: Arceus' unique Poké Balls, Potions, and crafting materials of the same type in one slot. However, with the variety of items players will need to pick up on their journey, inventory slots can still fill up fast, making regular upgrades an important part of managing Satchel space in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Players can also leave items they don’t need to carry with them in the Storage Box, which they can access from their living quarters, the box near the entrance to Jubilife Village, or the Galaxy Expedition Team Base Camp. Storage is also accessible when crafting at work benches, so materials don’t have to be moved to the Satchel before crafting.
