The PlayStation Portal has turned out to be a more successful piece of hardware for Sony than many would have expected, what with its many limitations, and Sony is continuing to push the device to consumers in hopes of seeing sustained sales.
For instance, as per prominent leaker billbil-kun in a report on Dealabs, Sony is gearing up to release a black version of the remote play device soon. When the black PlayStation Portal will be unveiled or released is unknown, but the leaker claims it will be available at the same price as the white model ($199.99).
Reportedly, the device’s new colour option will be available in North America, Europe, and other parts of the world, though initial quantities will be limited, which means it’s likely to face stock shortages.
Last week, Sony announced that it had pushed a new hardware update for the PlayStation Portal, following which PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can now stream a select number of games on the device via the cloud.
Reportedly, the company is also working on a handheld device that will natively play PS5 games. Read more on that through here.
