Pikmin 4 has just been released on Nintendo Switch, but as it has been for most Nintendo Switch releases of the past few months, it is already possible to enjoy a superior experience on PC thanks to a mod and the Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator.
A new video shared on YouTube by reznoire shows the game running on Yuzu Early Access version 3774 at smooth 60 frames per second with a mod. For those not in the know, the game runs at 30 frames per second on native hardware, so it is a sound improvement, although there may be some issues here and there related to the doubling of the game's framerate, as it was in the first few days since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Pikmin 4 is yet another incredibly solid game from Nintendo, with its many additions expanding the formula soundly, although they only seem to come together at the end of the campaign, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
Pikmin 4 adds or reintroduces a lot to the series’ formula, including caves, nighttime missions, and an adorable doggy sidekick, to the point the game starts to feel a bit busy and unfocused. Fortunately, like a well-managed Pikmin squad, the game comes together in charming, effective fashion by the end. While the franchise may have bloomed slightly brighter in the past, Pikmin 4 will still provide a bountiful harvest of fun for longtime fans.
Pikmin 4 is now available on Nintendo Switch worldwide.
