Wish is a popular online shopping service, similar to eBay or Amazon. Accessible through either an app or its website, it has operated since 2010 and was co-founded by Peter Szulczewski and Danny Zhang. Wish allows users to buy products from a wide variety of third-party sellers. These products are generally inexpensive, and the eclectic mix of available products often draws attention and amusement from others.

In a video uploaded on March 2nd, PewDiePie explained that his purchase of a Balisong knife from Wish led to a visit from the police. The YouTuber said he bought the balisong, also known as a Butterfly knife, because "they're fun to play with." This attitude is one which is evident in PewDiePie's past YouTube content, where he can occasionally be seen using balisongs as fidget toys. However, the purchase of a Balisong knife is in fact illegal in the UK. As a result, PewDiePie received a visit from the police.
The popular YouTuber blamed the incident on a cultural misunderstanding, saying that in his native country of Sweden the Balisong is considered to be «a tool, not a weapon».
