If you’ve been following the announcement path for Persona 6, you know it’s been a very light trail so far. Despite Atlus confirming that another entry in their beloved RPG franchise is coming, we’ve had no official announcements or looks at the game since that statement. With every month that has passed, gamers get more antsy, and Atlus isn’t making it any easier. In the latest lack of an update, ComicBook.com reveals that the company will have a media briefing next month focusing on the games coming out this fiscal year. But the six mainline entry will not be at the meeting, as they’re not making any announcements at the event.
What will be shown is the upcoming Persona 3 Reload remake, as well as Persona 5 Tactica, the tactics-based title, and a movie that ties into the remake. While there is a chance that it could be shown off at a place like the Tokyo Game Show, which is also in September, gamers are not getting their hopes up.
What confuses gamers the most is that Persona 6 feels like something that should be the “utmost priority” for Atlus, and yet that doesn’t seem to be the case. First, there were the ports of the 3rd-5th entries in the franchise to make them multiplatform. Gamers were fine with that because many players couldn’t access some of them due to their exclusivity on certain platforms like the PlayStation. So they sold incredibly well when they were finally released to other systems.
The remake of the 3rd title was understandable as that was the game that helped shift the franchise in a new direction, and the port showed its age. The tactics title for the 5th entry came out of left field, and many wonder why that game was developed over a mainline entry. That doesn’t even talk about the mobile title
