THQ Nordic has announced it's delaying promising PS5 horror title Alone in the Dark to 16th January 2024 to avoid the extremely busy release schedule of October. The game was originally slated to release in amongst Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2, but will now represent one of the first major game launches of next year.
In a press release, developer Pieces Interactive cites the busy release schedule as a reason for the delay, as well as the chance to improve the game experience. «Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan's epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible.»
It continues: «To honour this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.» A prologue demo is available on the PS Store now.
This provides PS5 owners with another game to look forward to in the early months of 2024, which already includes Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Persona 3 Reload, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Square Enix is also expected to release Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in the first few months of the year.
