Patton Oswalt geeks out about Green Goblin by sharing a photo of him with Willem Dafoe. Though the comedian and actor originally joined the MCU in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the status of which is somewhat contested, he officially re-joined the canon last year as Pip the Troll in the mid-credits scene of Eternals. Dafoe, meanwhile, reprised his role from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home to join Oswalt in the universe's growing cast of characters.
In the weeks leading up to its release, Dafoe's return as Green Goblin was one of the most anticipated parts of No Way Home. On top of being popular at the time, the talented actor's performance of the comic book villain in Raimi's 2002 movie has only grown in reputation as the superhero boom has developed, with many of the antagonists in subsequent projects failing to match his level of impact. Now that the film has released, Dafoe has shifted to being one of No Way Home's most acclaimed elements, his intense commitment to the role catapulting him to the upper-echelon of MCU baddies.
