A new batch of images from The Northman reveal the first look at Willem Dafoe's character, Heimir the Fool. The veteran character actor is coming off yet another banner year in his fantastic career. Most notably, Dafoe reprised his role as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home, 15 years after he last played the villain in Sam Raimi's belovedSpider-Man trilogy. In 2021, he also played supporting roles in Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch, Paul Schrader's The Card Counter, and Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley.
Dafoe's first project of 2022 will be The Northman, a historical epic written and directed by Robert Eggers. After making his first two feature films, The Witch and The Lighthouse, with the indie studio A24, Eggers has now moved on to Focus Features for The Northman. The film centers on Alexander Skarsgård as Amleth, a Viking warrior prince from Scandinavian legend who served as the inspiration for Shakespeare's Hamlet. Set in 10th-century Iceland, Amleth embarks on an epic quest to avenge the death of his father, who was murdered at the hands of his uncle.The Northman's star-studded cast also includes Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, and Björk.

Now, a brand new batch of stills from The Northman have arrived, via Total Film. Skarsgård's viking can be seen looking very intense yet again, while Hawke is holding court as King Aurvandil. Dafoe's character is also pictured in full medieval regalia, as he appears to be wearing some type of horns. This serves as a new, detailed look at Dafoe's character, a jester named Heimir the Fool.
