Stop us if you've heard this one, but Overwatch 2 players aren't very happy about the game's monetisation and price of skins. Although that's happened several times since the game's initial free-to-play announcement, and even in the pay-to-play original, one Legendary skin for Kiriko is causing particular ire for its high price for seemingly little reason.
As we reported yesterday, Kiriko's cosmetics are already fairly controversial thanks to the fact that it could take upwards of five years to unlock all of them without spending any money on them. To make matters worse, one of her most expensive purchases, the Legendary Athleisure skin, is being ripped apart on social media for its lack of effort relative to the price.

Most Legendary Overwatch skins earn that title pretty well. Take a look at any of the big holiday cosmetics or the Legendary skins that completely change how a character such as Young Genji to see what the category is supposed to do. Then there's Kiriko's Athleisure skin. For the price of $19, this Legendary gives Kiriko a pair of headphones and a varsity jacket.
That's really all that has changed with the skin, though. Beyond the jacket and headphones, there's nothing else done to any other parts of her clothing, and her weapons have remained exactly the same, which is particularly annoying considering that's the only thing that most players using the skin will even see change. This would be pretty standard for a less expensive skin, but for a Legendary it's very low-effort.
