Friends' alum Michael Rapaport has joined Hulu's acclaimed comedy, Only Murders in the Buiding season 2. Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, who form the series' adorably charming leading trio, Only Murders in the Building began streaming on Hulu in August 2021, quickly becoming the most-watched comedy series on the platform. The show has been lauded not only because of the predictably hilarious and cherishable chemistry among its lead performers, but also for its comedic approach and parody of true crime podcasts and murderinos. Only Murders in the Building season 1 saw its main characters — three residents of the luxury Upper West Side apartment building, the Arconia — solve a suspicious murder which the police had ruled a suicide. Season 2 will follow a similar dynamic, although now part of the show will be dedicated to proving Mabel (Gomez) innocent after she was arrested for a new murder in the Arconia in the season 1 finale.
To assist with the proceeding of the new investigation in season 2, Only Murders in the Building has added actor Michael Rapaport to its star-studded ensemble, Deadline reports. Rapaport will play Detective Kreps, a police investigator who will inspect the latest murder in the Arconia and Mabel's potential connection to crime. This is the second time that Rapaport will play the role of a cop. The actor previously played Gary in Friends season 5, a police officer who becomes romantically involved with Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow).
